Mob spawners

I built a mob trap to get exp and bones from it. I showed it to Paradox and he came and told me it's against the rules to use spawners. I typed /rules and there it was! I had no idea. I was let off with a warning. I gotta ask though, why aren't spawners allowed? McMMO doesn't gain exp from spawned mobs, and traps take a lot of work and skill to build. I don't think spawners should be against the rules because they are part of the game.

When the server game started, there was that issue with mcmmo because they didn't have the config setting to disable it, so people would powerlevel by taping their mouse button down and go eat lunch.
This is a similar case with Exp Orbs now, although not as powerful in the long run.

I don't think so. Anything that can come out of spawners actually takes hard work and skill to get. It isn't abuse at all. It would be abuse of mcmmo trained from it but it does not.

on another note, i had a message say break the spawner and get 3 diamonds. I break the spawner but didn't get anything. Are we still meant to ask admins?

Hmm, oh well, spawners aren't a reliable source of diamonds anyways..
