Title: How to respond to "The Question"
Post by: 1cec0ld on August 10, 2013, 03:19:58 am
(https://www.pokemonserver.net/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi259.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fhh305%2Fjeretry%2FPokemonResponse_zpsb4bed00d.png&hash=5ce4f753ec67d0f486c2ac55bf6ca682)

Please use this method, rather than scaring players away with "we don't have pokemon here" and they log off before they even realize it will happen.

Also I think the response to 'No' gives them false hope of being able to catch pokemon.

True if you say No

Their is only gonna b a 50% Chance that your gonna tell them that their is a Pixelmon server being created.
Still you could tell them eitherway but i agree with archie. It kinda does give false hope

"If they can't handle the truth, they don't deserve to be on the server." Direct Quote from Archie

We should just stick to a direct "There are no pokemon" because otherwise our users will be taken over by false hope and constant nagging about more questions like the Pixelmon ip and how to download it.

If they do say No, it eventually leads to the pixelmon server response just like Yes does. There is no difference except the immersion into the mod, which WILL let them catch pokemon, there is no harm in that.

Also, "If they can't handle the truth, they don't deserve to be on the server" implies that you give no shits about how many players we actually have, and don't care at all about other people in general. You don't want to give them a chance to stay, a chance to stay with the community on the pixelmon server, you just care about people who blindly have faith that pvp is a decent alternative, and I can't condone that. By the way, WHICH SERVER? That quote was made how long ago? We have more than one server now, so I think that quote is broken.

For a moderator, you sound like you're really itching to help and inform people to stay on our server.

Taken pretty out of context. That quote was regarding how short-fused most new players are, especially when told that there aren't any pokemon, they log out so fast that we have no time to explain.
It can get very frustrating.

What's wrong with "we don't have pixelmon here, but we have a pixelmon server that will be up soon"

Because some people don't know what it is, and need that first step to understand that it is possible in minecraft.

But what's the chance of the newbies even looking at the chart before asking the questions?
