Title: Weekly Community Meetings
Post by: donutboy10 on July 20, 2014, 09:42:48 pm
Starting next Sunday, July 27th, there will be weekly Community Meetings in which anyone can provide suggestions or opinions to the Admins present. The meetings will be every Sunday at 7:00 EST (Eastern Time) and will be held on both Team Speak and IRC, primarily on IRC. If you need the addresses, they are listed below. To make these meetings run smoothly, keep it clean and make sense with what you say, if you feel strongly about a new idea, feel free to address it. See you all next Monday.

Team Speak: ts.pokemonserver.net
IRC: tiny.cc/pokechat

It's not really a Community Meeting if only one country can attend. 8 PM US EST is 1 am for anyone in the UK and 8-12 am (when people are at work or school, considering it'd be mid Tuesday) for Australia and New Zealand.

tene said she'd be there... and we have very few UK players left

You could always bring up your ideas to an Admin prior to a meeting. These meetings are just good way to get ideas to the Admins in a cluster.

I'm just suggesting getting a better time. If it was still 8 pm US EST but on a Friday then all the Australians could easily attend as it'd then be mid Saturday for us.

Ill attend on IRC. Makes things so easier that we are using EST for the standard time.

Can people stop using EST, I have no idea when that is. Either list all time zones or go by GMT.

Gmt is three or four hours above est. I believe Tene is fifteen hours ahead of est. Im not sure though.

Sorry to be a bother again but Sunday still doesn't fix things for the Australians, that's mid Monday for us.

Also, if you wish to use EST than to avoid confusion specify which EST you mean. Multiple countries have it.

Or use a standardised time zone (GMT)

7:00 p.m. EST is 12:00 a.m. GMT. What I meant was EST is also used as GMT -5.

Instead of having it in IRC and TeamSpeak, why not have a forum thread each week that stays open for 24 hours and then gets locked? This way anyone can discuss regardless of timezone.

Its far easier to have a live discussion, not many people check the forums multiple times a day, let a lone within the time period they're awake for.

Unfortunately the time and day of the week you decided upon means no one off your continent could have made it.

I think we should still do these but on the admin's schedule. Also if we do we can make this an every-other-week or even monthly meeting.

The thing with IRC is you can have a conversation over hours/days on the one topic, just stay in the channel and wait for a reply.

I have an idea. How about we make it so there is one of those weekly meetings daily at a time available for the main time zones?

Even if an admin isn't there, we can talk about the ideas we had, qnd we'll bring it up on a forum board.

Unfortunately that basically restricts anyone out of Canada or the US from coming. If you move it to Friday or Saturday at 8PM then everything would be fine.

Surely Friday or Saturday at 8 pm, US time, is US friendly. If anything it'd be better than Thursday considering your lack of commitments the next day.

How early do you start work on Saturday, Sunday? If it's not too early then I'm sure it could be worked around.

Okay, heres my opinion. Make the meetings Thursday nights at 8pm, and post what is discussed on here. That way those who can't visit can still find out what happened. I get its not ideal, but even with the old admin meetings not everyone could make it. If we do it this way, the meetings will work.

The reason no one has responded is because of the fact that you are now deciding to try to make change during the school year, when everyone is busy. You had two months during the summer when people could be active to try to make the server better, but that's in the past now. I, for the most part, am sure I cannot make any of those times due to football/school and I am almost sure it is the same case for donut.

Stop having a negative view on everything, it's not going to help settle anything. Get a better attitude. All your posts are negative and its not gonna make the admins listen to your opinion.

First of all, stating the truth is not negativity. I don't know if you read what I just said, but to put it into terms even you (I hope) can understand is that there is no community here anymore to respond due to the school year, and that summer was the perfect time to do it, but nothing was done. I don't think that was too hard to understand and it wasn't negative at all, so please, read before you post.

Also, my wording on certain posts may not be the nicest, but its because I try to state points that no one listens to time after time, and it just pisses me off that this server had such potential, but no one wants to do anything to fix it. I don't know what type of wake up call the admins need for them to realize that this server cannot amount to anything without change. Mio has left, Para tried to come by and help, and still nothing is being done.

TLDR; Truth isn't negativity, server is dead, good luck getting admin waffles

@Envz I think it's a little much to say that the only opportunity is in the summer. This server has been here for more than 3 years and only three months out of the year are summer. This server can survive easily outside of summer as it always has. Yes, summer does allow for the most opportunities for everyone to meet up at meetings.

But stop focusing all your energy on trying to get a time that works for everyone. Won't happen. If you three admins have a time you can all meet up (WHICH YOU DO), THEN FUCKING MEET UP THEN. Anyone who wants to come will. They don't need to be there though. All of the communities problems have been outlined so much at this point on the forums. Admins need to talk to each other and get a new, cohesive plan that involves new gameplay/map and be open about talking about it rather than hiding behind curtains. You don't need dates of when things will be released or anything. But right now there is absolutely zero direction except building which is not what a PVP server should be focusing on 100%.
Title: Re: Weekly Community Meetings
Post by: Paradox on September 01, 2014, 06:43:32 pm
I wasn't saying it was the only time to do it, just the best and the perfect opportunity. I didn't mean to make it sound like that if I did.

Obviously nothing is being done because the server has had the same playstyle for months. The only objective in the server is to level up your pokemon. There is no solid way to get money, the economy isn't working, grinding all day is boring, and there is no one playing on it. 99% of the time there are 0 people online.

Luckily I have an idea that will solve all of those issues. I've already told 1ce and he seems very receptive to them.
