All depends on personal preference. In terms of ease of use, I'd say a mac. In terms of gaming, ps3

Mac is epic for anything ranging from Photo Editing to Making a feature length film.
And in some aspects its a beast at gaming. For Example. My Mac can run borderlands on full settings at around 100-200FPS
Thats pretty good.

Windows - has microsoft office. and can run all games unlike Mac
+ its a lot cheaper

$2000 Desktop + Windows = GTFO  :D

3D Vision Surround  :D

Also. I HATE PS3s and Xbox 360s. Only reason I would ever own one is if I had to play something like Infamous which only comes on PS3. Other than that my PC get 10x the graphics of the consoles

Macs seldom get viruses. Once in 10 years will you get a virus, and when that happens that virus will ruin your computer. Mac Viruses are hard to code, Mac would be better than a Linux. Dumb Penguin, Apples are for kids

Nobody has addressed Laptop Vs Desktop yet.
Obviously Desktops are like doube or triple the power of a laptop for the same price. Although laptops are portable. If your going to get one. Id happily dish out £1000 for a Macbook Pro which can Edit AND Play games like Minecraft at a decent framerate

Well in my years with Windows I have never had a virus (and all I use is the Free Microsoft Security Essentials). Take the software off...your done for :fear:

As for laptops I see no need. Just get something like the Asus Transformer Prime and put Windows 8 on it  :D :D :D :D

Desktop > Laptop any day of the week just for the preformance being much higher, anything i need to see on the go I and most people can see on their phones, laptops are irrelevant in my oppinion. As for PC vs. Mac, Im a PC guy, much better for gaming purposes, you can actually customize it , add parts change parts ect. granted a stock mac is better for graphic design/movie editing etc. although u can get anything u need for that on P.C. and finnaly only reason P.C. gets more viruses is because more people own a PC than a mac (more proof PC is greater) therefore hackers code more viruses for the PC.

I've ready pretty much every post here and I don't agree with any one of them.

Windows is my personal favorite mess-around OS. It Allows me to generally install anything I want, easy to navigate, fast, easy learning curve, and nicely designed. It has some draw backs such as the inability to do a lot of things I like to do as a programmer (SSH programming fucks you like a bitch in windows), less customizable than other OS, security problems, and more. But still my favorite.

I like to dual boot windows with my other favorite OS, Linux. Linux has the advantage of being über customized, fixable by the user, and able to do almost do anything that windows and Mac can do but better. There's only a Few drawbacks. You need to have years of experience with operating system programming as well as SSH to get anything done. If not, you're done for. Luckily, I'm one of these people and this problem doesn't really affect me :D

Mac is also a good OS, but my least favorite. I personally own an iPhone and im typing this post on it right now. I see most superficial people say "macs are for losers and I'm better for not using it" and I say fuck you to them. Mac is amazing for your basic every day user. It's straightforward, quick, generally easy to learn, nice looking, and generally virus free. Generally. Recently there's been a large development in the abuse of Macs security problems. Also, they're expensive as shit. And limited as fucked.

All in all, no OS is perfect. I'll just make one for all of you :D

My friend and I have been looking into designing an OS. But our plan is to design it like a video games menu. You could download a game design of your choosing and all the menues and such will be themed for that game you chose. Also some games will have the ablity to run a game simulation as a screen saver OR be able to (in real time) take the icons on your desktop and turn your computer into a battleground (See Animation VS. Animation for reference). Havent really gotten started yet but just some ideas we have been throwing around.

Another side of this is using the talents of another friend of mine to design a home that is fully computerized. In short your could have say a wireless Xbox/PS3 remote or keyboard/mouse that you can carry around the house. But as you move from room to room the walls are screens so that if you are playing a game/watching a movie/browsing the web/etc. it will move with you. And again with the customizable OS imaging a house where all your walls are a battleground  :D

So you want an OS with the design of a consoles homepage which can still use everyday programs.
Will it be able to run .exe? Thats the only bad thing about mac

I kind of agree however Macs are the kings of Media production and Design. They just own the market for professional software like Final Cut and Adobe programs
And considering Media Production is what i want to do - Make films and Animation, im perfectly content with my Mac

Here is the thing with Macs. They all fun and great with editing and what not until you really need to do something. I mean. Im sorry I know of very few macs that can support 7 graphics cards running together to do heavy editing. Macs tend to run better on the basic editing but when it comes to getting the max horsepower needed for certain things no one will be using a Mac.

Oh, I forgot to mention that in the downside of apple, proprietary. You can't upgrade macs or anything like that. It sucks. Like I said though, your average user doesn't need that kind of hardware. It's perfect for your typical computer savy person.

There is no debate between a desktop and a laptop, laptops are mainly for business purposes and desktops are for home use. Mac vs. Windows? Apple products are the most overpriced pieces of shit I have ever seen in my whole life (other then Jordans which cost $1 to make and sell for $200 -_-). With $1,200 would you rather buy a nice slim white macbook air or buy and extreme beast like Alienware or even custom make your own PC for even less.
