Title: Question about Minecraft [locked when answered and tested]
Post by: 1cec0ld on July 20, 2012, 11:36:39 am
How do you switch between minecraft client jars quickly and efficiently?

I know I could have a folder full of jars that I stockpile up, and then copyPasta into my appdata/blah/blah every single time, if I really want to follow that path for each time I switch, but I'm planning on it a lot, so I'm wondering if any one knows of a tool I can use to make the process faster, without any funky scripting or something else hard to understand.

Lol Ok I downloaded it, is there an instruction manual somewhere? It's not very intuitive.

I don't think its possible to switch jars in game. It'd mess up may map switching between 1.2.5 and 1.7.3 :P

Oh I'm not looking for in-game, I'm just wanting to try pixelmon on my server, but I'd want a fast way to switc between that client and vanilla when I switch from Pokemon to pixelmon.

1. Rename .minecraft to .minecraftpokemon
2. Open Minecraft and let it install another .minecraft (it doesnt recognize .minecraftpokemon)
3. In the new .minecraft install Pixelmon (and test it or whatever)
4. When you want to change to Pokemon, rename .minecraft to .minecraftpixelmon and .minecraftpokemon to .minecraft (viz.)

Oooook, so I'll just have a buttload of folders starting with .minecraft in my appdata/roaming folder...seems viable.
And easier to understand... Sorry Mario. If you can explain it to me better, I might consider the launcher, but Prods idea is looking better right now.

1. Open up the Magic Launcher
2. Go to setup
3. Hit the select button in the upper right and chose the wanted jar
4. Press ok and Play

Ok so I still need to have a saved directory of the jars somewhere...Makes sense. Alright, thank you both for the help!
