You can't dig down since your house hasn't been expanded vertically. Dogs vanishing is a big ? for me since my dogs just glitch into my chests.

dogs vanishing is a glitch that hasnt been figured out in coding :/ it really sucks

No, Mojang did something stupid with chests, and now you can sometimes glitch inside of them...
