Title: tymac's Moderator Application
Post by: tymac on February 03, 2014, 07:19:58 pm

tymac222's MODERATOR APPLICATION  Last update August 4th, 2017
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Age: I am seventeen years old.

Times available:
I am available most weekdays 5:00-11:00PM and on Saturdays 10:00AM-1:00PM (EST)

How long have you been on the pokemonserver? I have been playing on the Pokémon Server since September 2012. I have always enjoyed playing Pokemon, so when i was younger and first bought Minecraft, I immediately searched for a Pokemon server in Minecraft. This server was the first I found.

What is your mcmmo Powerlevel? My power level is not the highest at 2569, but continues to grow and will be updated as it grows.

How many/which Badges do you have?

I have the following badges:

Kanto: (I have eight Kanto badges)
Boulder Badge
Cascade Badge
Thunder Badge
Rainbow Badge
Soul Badge
Marsh Badge
Volcano Badge
Earth Badge

Johto: (I have three Johto badges)

Storm Badge
Mineral Badge
Glacier Badge

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Why would you be a good moderator?
No matter what the situation is, whether in real life or in while online, I always try to help another person with whatever help they may need. I always welcome a new player to the server, and recommend, even when they are disappointed that there are no Pokemon available on the PVP server, to stay for a while and try to enjoy the fun. Naturally, I am a friendly person, willing to go out of my way to help another. I have passion in what I do, and am willing to help another in time of need.
I do not have experience being a moderator on any other server. However, I am a leader, and a moderator must be a leader to succeed. Outside of the server in school, I lead many clubs as president and vice-president and am able to micromanage the work that must be done to perform well in those clubs on state levels and national levels; I also lead in other organizations outside of school. I know how to deal with a situation to achieve success.
I believe I have an open mind willing to listen to any side of a story. Whether it's drama on the server, or a friendly political debate between friends, I am able to calmly listen. The key to being a leader - and a moderator - is to listen, a skill which has been lost over the past years. To be a moderator, you must be moderate in your thinking and handling of a situation. You must never lean towards one group of people over the other, and keep an open mind. I know how to handle a situation correctly and execute plans for an end result.
A few years ago, I will admit: I was not the best choice for moderator. I still had a lot more to learn and had to mature more. Today, I honestly believe I could moderate this server and be the mature person needed for the position. I've grown from the person in my past. I know my mistakes in my past, and will accept them and will continue to grow for the future.

What do you plan to do as moderator?
As a moderator, I plan to do the following:

Do you have teamspeak? Would you be willing to get on it? I own Team Speak, Skype, and Discord and will be willing to use any combination of the three (or any other way to communicate between moderators/admins).

Can you moderate the server, and demonstrate your ability by moderating your own application thread? Yes, I can moderate the server, and I will moderate this thread. While there have been arguments on my application thread debating whether or not if I am fit to moderate a server, I have been able to create some sort of resolution that is in the best interest for the majority of people.

Thank You Section!

I have updated my application with some World Edit commands, and will be know as the "World Edit Update."
I will be adding more World Edit commands I have learned successfully and hopefully will start to learn other plugins as the future rolls on.

Thank you for all of the support with my hopes to become a moderator! :)

This is the Mcmmo update. I added some commands for /party and some admin commands. Even though I might not use the admin commands, I will still learn them for the heck of it. Tomorrow I will attempt to learn moddamage. If that fails, I will update with Berries or will learn more World Edit.

Thank you all!  :D

This update was the "Essentials Update." This is a work in progress, and I will be adding more commands later. If it comes to a point where there are too many commands, I will start to use spoilers. I will continue to learn Moddamage, and once I feel like I know it well, I will put that down.

Thanks!

Today I decided to learn some WorldGuard commands. I will tomorrow I will try to update more World Edit commands. If my application gets flooded with commands, I will start to use spoilers. After I do some WE stuff, I will try to learn more /region commands.

Thanks!  :D

I have learned more World Guard today. I learned mostly how to publish a certain region, how to check out the name a certain region, and learned how to create specific additions to an area (No mobs, Greetings, Farewells, Fire-spread off ect.)

I will continue to learn more in hopes of becoming a moderator!  :D

This update was from observing videos that admins have made about elite four fights.
I learned how to take away badges from a specific region, how to add/remove people to a gym, How to promote someone to elite, and how to talk to fellow admins secretly (Doubt I'll use).

Thank you for all of the support!  :aww:

There wasn't any commands today, but more of an update that I am still learning stuff and perfecting /pex. Like /pex user tenebraemaximus group set ((region)(Rank)(Trainer/Elite/GymLeader/ect.)) I decided to look at the primary regions that all of the gyms are assigned. Sorry for such the small update for all of you that semi-care about my travels to become mod. :)

Thank you!  ;)

Today's update was solely on PEX stuff. A bit of it is still confusing, so next time I update, it will be more PEX stuff!

Thanks! :D

This is the "Mio Update" because she is the one that helped me with any problems or any imperfections that the commands I used. I learned that you use a brick instead of using a piece of sting to find a region name.

Thanks Mio!  :aww:

This is one of the best apps I've seen so far in my opinion. Its well organized and you keep it updated. It really shows you are willing to learn new commands, especially when you went around and wrote down all the primary region to the gyms and asked me on the server the different commands and ones your needed to update. I'm impressed by your eagerness  to learn (without being annoying). Keep it up.

I love the colors by the way.

Ok guys, thats enough... Just remember to keep on topic, and suggest more things I should learn. But thank you all for the support with my travels to become moderator. I will most likely update this application later today, or tommorow. I might even learn more World Edit :D

Thanks all! ;)

Today's update was called "Birthday Update." Hence it being my Birthday Today. :D Today's update was all World Edit stuff that confused me before last time I did World Edit, and stuff I missed. I learned that the area when you left and right click with a wooden axe is called the "Clipboard." I also learned that /pumpkins (Size) makes a pumpkin forest! :D

This is one of the best apps I've seen so far in my opinion. Its well organized and you keep it updated.

Keep it up.

Will do Mio!

Today's update had no commands, but instead, I decided to learn more about an important aspect to our server. SpamGuard makes chat feel like a safe place to be. No spammers trying to put ip addresses in chat, no constant cap locks. So I decided this is a great plugin to learn more about. I learned that the admins can set words to say something else when typed in chat. For example, Frozen to Frozen  or when someone tries to put an ip address, they get greeted with "A Website" I also learned the admins can make a list of words that are not allowed in chat.

Thank you all for the consideration with my travels for mod! :grouphug:

Today was a pretty interesting update. I learned more about the infamous plugin; ChestShop. I learned a lot more about the plugin that I will try to use in the future. I learned that if you substitute "AdminShop" with the player's name, you will end up with a store with infinitely amount of objects.
Also, If you substitute "Free" where the price of the object is, you will sell and buy things for free.
Lastly, I learned if you use /region flag (Region) chestshop allow makes it so you can only set a chestshop in certain regions.

If anyone has any ideas on plugins I should learn that is essential to the server I have not learned yet, please put them in the comments! I also added some minor details I updated under what I plan to do as mod. This is something I heard from an admin meeting. I believe either oddy, Para, or 1ce mentioned it, but they said "a mod's job is to help people first, then have fun." If I get mod, I will most certainly remember this. When I am talking in the chat on the server, if someone every needs help, I always direct them into what they need help with. Whether it be Welcoming them to the server, to helping people get the pixelmon mod, I help people on the server that need help. I am open to learning and I enjoy it as well.

Thank you all again! All of you have been very supportive with my travels to become mod! :grouphug:

This update was finishing off the rest of Essentials. I decided that tomorrow I will update things that a mod will NEED to be a mod. I am talking about temp-banning, giving people houses, ect.
I feel that update will show what I know to be a moderator, and if there are still stuff I don't know and people tell me, I will learn the command and write down the command.

Thank you all for the support!  :awe:

I did as I promised and made a list of commands that moderators would use a lot. I defiantly don't know all commands moderators would use, but will do another update similar to this one every couple weeks, where I show all of the commands necessary for moderators. I talked about how to give houses, how to check for X-Rayers with /vanish and tp capabilities.

Thank you all for the support!   :afro:

Todays update was World Borders! Not the most interesting plugin to learn, but still necessary to our server. I seriously plan on learning moddamage. Seems like a lot of work, but it seems the fruits are plentiful if you actually learn the plugin. So that is going to be one of the top things to learn.

Thanks all!  :yay:

It is still a good plugin. Even if it isn't updated anymore, do we use something else as a substitute?
If we do, what is it called?

Today's update was ForcedGrammar which is an amazing asset to any server.

Today's update was AutoMessage, a plugin that we use on the server. This plugin announces messages set by admins to every player. I found out that admin can set messages to only be broadcasted to certain people that belong in a group (CoolTrainer) (GameFreak) (Trainer)
This update was pretty interesting learning about how we broadcast certain things on the server. This is amazing to let players remember things that are a great reminder!
Moddamage is coming.  After I think I complete learning it, I will update everything I learnt in one big update.

This wasn't that big of a deal, but my application was a bit longer than my tastes, so I decided to use spoilers to make my application a bit shorter.

Thank you all for the support for coming a moderator!  :D

I've been using that plugin since it just had an automessage.properties file generated... No folder or anything.

Well... I have learnt a lot in the past couple months, and I decided that I wanted to come up with a CTM map. A CTM map for anyone not familiar is a map that you need to collect every wool available in the game by receiving them in chests in certain areas. If anyone is still confused (I know I would be,) go here! (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/191908-ctmcollection-vechs-super-hostile-series/)

A CTM map will use a lot of MCedit and WorldEdit. So maybe that can show you that I have mastered World Edit.

I will soon make a post to help with ideas. I based my map off of thaumcraft essentia. If there are any of you that do not know what thaumcraft is, click here to learn about essentia! (http://thaumcraft-3.wikia.com/wiki/Aspects_of_Magic)
The essentia ranges from weather, to magic, to water, to earth. Each area will have to do with the essentia I picked for the area. A post will be coming soon with my ideas.

Thank you all for supporting me! ;)

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

/pex user (name) group set PickAGroup
because set can be any of set|add|remove so you can have multiple groups per person by adding, or just set it to one group. We only use set, but it is something to be aware of, and a fix to the syntax.

Also you realize you said WorldGuard will warn/kick you right <_< lol

I updated some small things included in my application. I have some new commands as well. /tppos @p[r=(3)] (x) (y) (z) (Number for direction, 0 is North, 180 is South) (Number to look up, down, ect.)

I usually use 3 for radius, but can be any other you need. There are other people that can be tped when a command block is triggered with redstone, but I prefer @p.

Feel free to add it back, but be less liberal about how often you use it.
And please do still send me that error message containing /Miosio/

Now, does anyone have any ideas on what plugins I can learn? I'm kind of stuck on what I should do. But I will do something similar to what past moderators did on their applications. Hopefully this will help me grow as a player on the server.

Just some small updates to the questions. And some more colour since my last application was cut short.

I did another update. Everything I've added is in the Pink.

I will also try to make a little thank you to all of you who supported me. I will make a section deticated to all of you who wished me good luck. If my application gets to large in file size, I will not do it.

Yup. The Thank You section is now there. I just wanted to thank everyone that has supported me in my travels to moderator.

I will try to give more updates daily. I will also be refining my commands a bit. One of them being //hsphere ;)

Thank you all! :)

Hmm... sorry D:.

I wonder who did. But anyways I got rid of the poll, because I realized that the only votes I need to worry about are the admins.

Continuing, I will give an update soon. I just got back from my trip and will come online soon.

Thanks!

Today's the day. Too bad I could't have done this sooner. But today's update is AsyncWorldEdit (AWE)
Since there is really only one command you need to use on the server for it to work, I'm not going to go into the details because you can't really customize it.

/awe toggle

The point of this plugin is to decrease the lag that World Edit usually gives. It is perfect for transporting a region, to a city, to even something like an interior without lag.
That's really about it if you don't customize the settings. Then you could have done //set glass 20 to set glass faster than  let's say //set melon 10

So thanks for the support to moderator! :D

Yeah, I've been way too cautious whenever I use /stoplag. At least I know what /stop does. :)

To be honest, because I'm sure you want to know, I am the one who voted no on the poll.

Now, let me elaborate on why I say no.

Firstly, almost all posts that have been made on this topic is just you with an update message, bumping the thread constantly. This could easily be added to the topic's name. This is why the topic is 5 pages long. Sorry to be so blunt, but I feel bumping your thread to state you have updated the application looks bad, knowing you are doing it or not. Of course this is not my only reason, I just do not feel like listing them all.

Edit: Got an exact number of posts, 41/74 posts made on this topic are by you...

I don't bump just by saying, "bump." I try to put some reasoning behind every update or something I may do. Yes I do bump, but that doesn't exclude other people's applications, including waffles and Tene. I believe waffles even has 8 pages extracted by oddy of all the "updates." I don't blame him for that. I think if you try to bump your post (like previous and current moderators), it means you are deticated to become a moderator with all the time you think about learning new plugins. Even adding a couple extra sentences to make your reasoning that you are the perfect moderator is okay in my book. I don't get too annoying and I am willing to learn new plugins. And if I will be learning this new plugin, I have no problem updating my application to show I have the knowledge of that plugin.

But thanks ryan for telling me your reasoning. This will drive me to learn even more plugins in the future. So expect an update coming soon from me. Possibly I will learn moddamage, perfect my PEX skills, or even learning a new plugin on the build server. Maybe this won't be considered bumping.

Thanks!

And also ryan, can you tell me the other reasons, so I can perfect my skills? Thanks!

I decided to go through my commands list and start reminding myself of the commands. It was quite helpful, making me remember many commands I hope to use in the future. If anyone has any ideas for plugins for me to learn, please tell me. Also, if someone would be willing to reteach me voxelsniper at one point, that would be great. I remember the basics, I just want to make sure I really understand it before I put the plugin on my application.

-Thanks All! :D

I have added onto a previous section on certain skills I have learned/refined recently. You will find this new addition where the Lime colour is.

I had fixed major formatting issues that I noticed on my application. I also added new sections in Teal.

Soon enough I will continue with learning and adding new plugins onto my application. Learning new plugins (even if we do not use them) will continue to enrich my knowledge of remembering commands and refining my memory skills to use them.
