As the release of the Pixelmon server is on the horizon and I still hear that people have trouble installing the mod. I've decided to create this guide to help you out.

DOWNLOADS
Pixelmon 2.3.1 Install
Mediafire:

Minecraft Forge:
Minecraft Forge 9.10.0.799 and above
http://adf.ly/673885/http://files.minec ... .0.799.jar

Also make sure to download either Winrar or 7zip in order to extract the files from the Pixelmon zip file. You can download them simply by googling either of them.

1) Download each of the files shown above using the links provided.
2) Open the minecraftforge-installer-1.6.2-9.10.0.799.jar (If you are using a mac I suggest opening with right-click then 'open' as newer OS will prevent you from opening with double-click)
3) Select 'Install Client' and then click 'Ok'
4) Open your Minecraft 1.6.2 Launcher and where it has your username on the left, click on that and select 'Forge'
5) Click 'Play' and run Forge Minecraft fully.
6) Once everything has fully loaded, close minecraft completely and go to your .minecraft folder using %appdata% or simply search '.minecraft' under 'Computer' (Mac users will find their .minecraft folder in Users/(Username)/Library/Application Support/Minecraft)
OR

7) Extract the two folders which are inside the Pixelmon 2.3.1.zip and drop them into your .minecraft folder. (Replace any folders if asked to)8) Open your Minecraft client and you now have Pixelmon fully installed.
If you follow all these steps properly, everything should work out fine.

Thanks. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure it will work. Does the same thing work with Windows XP? I have a laptop with Windows 7, but most of the time I use my house's main computer, which has Windows XP.

ArchieSalt:
It works with windows XP and practically every other OS, just make sure to use the %Appdata% method when installing on XP :)

Honedge:
Awesome tutorial Archie.  I was just about to make one until I saw this ;3

ArchieSalt:
