Title: Admin meeting June 7th

Ali is returning to Moderator position. This is done without his input because we already know his desire on the subject. 3 different forum threads was sufficient to get the point across. More than sufficient.


We hate everyone's gyms. Not sure what to do about it, but the constant repetitiveness of mazes, lava ladders, and (now banned) parkour just drives us nuts and we wish that there was a solution to the idiocy that is the obstacles, without holding leader's hands and watching them as they rebuild something that we pray isn't a variation on the exact same thing we've seen 50 times this past year.

I think that mazes and lava ladders should be banned from gyms, no one likes them...
It would be much more fun if they just themed the gym like the type it is in the games, and made it scenic rather than annoying challenges that have nothing to do with  getting a badge, or pokemon in general.

I believe Night's Old gym Fuchsia, should be kept intact as it was the first original and challenging they said. I can think about it honestly, Rigby 1ce, Zangestu just random players from back then trying to run the lava ladders and being so frustrated.

Other gyms why not ask Viros to assist you? He is a GREAT gym creator honestly.

I believe Night's Old gym Fuchsia, should be kept intact as it was the first original and challenging they said. I can think about it honestly, Rigby 1ce, Zangestu just random players from back then trying to run the lava ladders and being so frustrated.

Other gyms why not ask Viros to assist you? He is a GREAT gym creator honestly.

Wrong. It has been altered several times. Although i do agree it was the best gym at its time.

I was simply pointing out that it has been altered quite severely. The lava ladders and a couple other parts have stayed the same but new leaders have added tons of repetetive obstacles.
And you didnt refer to the lava ladders. You said it hadnt been altered once since he built it

Draco, I hope you are happy wherever you move on to. Tene, I assigned the Spawner-Removing plugin to World_Nether, I can only hope I did it right and that it works properly.

I heard why parkour was banned... but couldn't we just be allowed to make parkours, then have them inspected....?
I also saw the one thing that got it banned, ya it was ridiculous, we should be allowed to have just SIMPLE parkour :D

Maybe the challenges are supposed to be like the gym trainers you fight before you face the gym leader.

What if we built new challenges on single player maps and have people test them?

I propose that admins set out some foundations for gym courses.
Eg.
3 Courses. Each must be admin approved.
1 = Pokemon knowledge quiz (Must be applicable to all players - NO experience on the server quizzes)
2 = Simple parkour (Change it if you dont like it)
3 = Misc.


They dont have to be in that order but if admins want to make gyms better, they must set foundations which all gyms must adhere to and then let leaders play around with it.


Feel free to change this around its just a rough outline of what you could do.

1ce said that with the POWER OF CONFIG! for each Pigmen spawning there is a 2% chance of a Blaze spawning. :D

Sometimes I hate people, don't we all? I used to remember when there we unique parkour jumps and such that each gym leader made. It was fun. I had made the parkour ladders in Vermillion gym, opposed to lava ladders. Rewas made the wipeout theme pistions. Etc. etc. yet NEWBIES complained about the parkour "Being too hard" listen. If it's possible practice makes perfect. I remember when I thought mitz's jump to cactus was impossible then I tried it 5 more times and got the hang of it. These new people, and old want gym badges handed out. Now all we have are mazes and lava ladders, and the occasional CREATIVE obstacle. So I propose we revoke this rule, under the condition that the admins or mods inspect the parkour before it is released. If it's possible than fuck off about the complaints-

For someone who says he doesnt remember it, you know the details pretty well. :P

I am for parkour too, its fun, gives you a challenge, and there arent many alternatives.
Only mazes, cobwebs and redstone (which many people dont get).

No wonder the gyms are unoriginal.

Story of my life. I completely agree with Bjz. Parkour was completely fine in gyms until noobs who were impatient refused to learn how to do parkour and then raged because they couldnt get past the course.
Although some parkour obstacles were impossible. Almost every other one was possible and furthermore incredibly easy

What if we gave leaders a few weeks to design challenges for their gym? If they don't design challenges within the time limit, or if their challenges aren't good enough, we just make a huge arena for the gym. Challenges would be designed either on single player worlds, or if someone has a server to host it on, we could build it there.

I agree, I remember when I started on this server and I challenged Vermilion Gym over and over because it was so challenging. But it was FUN, when I first made it through the parkour I was really happy and proud, which in my opinion is how a gym has to be. Nowadays, every gym starts with a dark maze, then 20 rows of boring lava ladders until you eventually get to the end. Not only very time consuming, but also ULTRA boring to do.

I do like the idea of redstone in gyms but not when one wrong descision ends your challenge - which is usually the case


I had 2 redstone challenges in Cinnabar gym when I remodelled it.

  • Minecart Arena: You get two bows of arrows, and as you're both are on very far apart Minecraft rails, you both need to try to shoot each other off the minecart to win.
  • Tug O' War: You and the leader have two fishing rods, and instead you need to try to fish each other out and the first person to pass the tripwire on either side loses
  • Combo Lock: The Leader is up in a glass tower trying to shoot you with arrows or use dispensers to spawn mobs at you, you running hastily, needs to find signs or buttons hidden around the room to help either solve the Combo (Buttons) or find the Combo (Signs) to setoff a trap and kill the leader
  • Ice Platform: You are on a floating Ice Platform and your leader is running about you in a raised square frame area trying to use dispensers to shoot arrows at you. You are trying to shoot him, and since the leader shouldn't be allowed weapons, you need to shoot the leader while he steps on dispensers to shoot you.
Most of the Arena/Battle Ideas don't rely on PVP Skills, which makes the game a bit more fun since you don't have overpowered gym leaders and obtaining badges could be a bit more fun.

  • Dark Mazes (No one can see anything and forces people to try to cheat and spam torches)
  • Abusive Parkour (What Hix did to Pewter Gym, making you jump into lava randomly to find the hole to the next puzzle)
  • Obsessive Trolls (One troll may be funny, but a gym covered with trolls like that Remodeled part in Fuchsia Gym making you run into fire in a soulsand maze was kind of annoying making you die slowly and painfully)
  • Gym Leader Advantage Traps (Normal traps are fine that make both players have an equal chance of triggering, but like Saffron Arena with dispensers that shoot arrows in all directions and those pistons that pull out little pockets of lava in the arrow blind spots were just annoying)
Things that could be used in Gyms
  • One-Way Door Mazes (Search up "One Way Doors in Minecraft", there's a very good explanation by SethBling)
  • New Redstone Mechanics (Like the new Tripwires that are coming out, if you check CaptainSparkles Video, he shows you how to hide a tripwire in plain air and make it look invisible [His Snapshot Part 2 I think])
  • Minigames (I really liked Night and Mio's idea of a Carnival gym, not to steal their idea leaders, but you could incorporate a game with Redstone AI, it might seem hard, but I think there are tutorials on youtube)
  • Trivia (Like Archie said before don't make it an Experience Trivia, this should be Noob compatible, and also No Troll Questions cause it's almost impossible)
  • Simple Parkour (I know it might seem lazy, but very thoughtful no Piston Parkour [Because lag] may seem very fun, as long as it's not impossible to finish on the first try)
  • 1.3 Puzzles (I know you can't remodel your puzzles now since 1.3 isn't out yet. But 1.3 does bring new idea and concepts to puzzles [Minecarts and Boats, and Lava and Water from the use of dispensers])

SO basically what you're saying is throw off PVP and put in some fun mini games. I agree with maybe a few, but if we have more ideas like that then guess what happens!

Unoriginal piece of crap that eventually people will complain about.

  • Abusive Parkour (What Hix did to Pewter Gym, making you jump into lava randomly to find the hole to the next puzzle)
  • Obsessive Trolls (One troll may be funny, but a gym covered with trolls like that Remodeled part in Fuchsia Gym making you run into fire in a soulsand maze was kind of annoying making you die slowly and painfully)
  • Gym Leader Advantage Traps (Normal traps are fine that make both players have an equal chance of triggering, but like Saffron Arena with dispensers that shoot arrows in all directions and those pistons that pull out little pockets of lava in the arrow blind spots were just annoying)
Things that could be used in Gyms
  • One-Way Door Mazes (Search up "One Way Doors in Minecraft", there's a very good explanation by SethBling)
  • New Redstone Mechanics (Like the new Tripwires that are coming out, if you check CaptainSparkles Video, he shows you how to hide a tripwire in plain air and make it look invisible [His Snapshot Part 2 I think])
  • Minigames (I really liked Night and Mio's idea of a Carnival gym, not to steal their idea leaders, but you could incorporate a game with Redstone AI, it might seem hard, but I think there are tutorials on youtube)
  • Trivia (Like Archie said before don't make it an Experience Trivia, this should be Noob compatible, and also No Troll Questions cause it's almost impossible)
  • Simple Parkour (I know it might seem lazy, but very thoughtful no Piston Parkour [Because lag] may seem very fun, as long as it's not impossible to finish on the first try)
  • 1.3 Puzzles (I know you can't remodel your puzzles now since 1.3 isn't out yet. But 1.3 does bring new idea and concepts to puzzles [Minecarts and Boats, and Lava and Water from the use of dispensers])
Arena Ideas I have:
  • Zombie Invasion: You don't fight the person at all, he stands there (Like in Night's Zombie Game) and you must defend him from the Zombies, BUT you can't hit the zombies. Instead you need to find all the buttons which releases 1 low health iron golem that helps you kill them
  • Minecart Arena: You get two bows of arrows, and as you're both are on very far apart Minecraft rails, you both need to try to shoot each other off the minecart to win.
  • Tug O' War: You and the leader have two fishing rods, and instead you need to try to fish each other out and the first person to pass the tripwire on either side loses
  • Combo Lock: The Leader is up in a glass tower trying to shoot you with arrows or use dispensers to spawn mobs at you, you running hastily, needs to find signs or buttons hidden around the room to help either solve the Combo (Buttons) or find the Combo (Signs) to setoff a trap and kill the leader
  • Ice Platform: You are on a floating Ice Platform and your leader is running about you in a raised square frame area trying to use dispensers to shoot arrows at you. You are trying to shoot him, and since the leader shouldn't be allowed weapons, you need to shoot the leader while he steps on dispensers to shoot you.
Most of the Arena/Battle Ideas don't rely on PVP Skills, which makes the game a bit more fun since you don't have overpowered gym leaders and obtaining badges could be a bit more fun.

SO basically what you're saying is throw off PVP and put in some fun mini games. I agree with maybe a few, but if we have more ideas like that then guess what happens!

Unoriginal piece of crap that eventually people will complain about.

I think having no-pvp gyms would be ok, but admins would have to limt it to certain gyms, not all of them.

I had one way doors in cinnabar...
