Title: Australian server/OCE
Post by: textiletrade on July 22, 2014, 06:14:25 am
Is it possible for there to be an OCE or more Australian friendly server? Is two poke servers too much?

With the amount of people that currently populate this server as of now. That would most likely not happen. If the player base blows up after the map update, i wouldn't see why not.

OCE?
That stands for Oceania. Basically meaning he/they want a server closer to Australia that it minimizes lag and what not, form interfering with the game.

I wonder, how do the servers that have different connections work. Like eu.someserver.net and us.someserver.net all connect to the same server.

Well the Build Server won't really be a building server after we finish Kalos (and possibly Hoenn)
Do you know if we would keep the build server as a building server, after we finish all the maps, or will we use it for something like this?

Lol if the goal of the OCE server is to reduce lag, we'd have to change the physical location of the computer that runs the minecraft_server.jar

So using the build server, which is on the same machine as the pvp server, would do literally nothing to change that.

However if the goal is simply to have a server where aussies can all play in the same time zone, sure it's viable.

The whole idea of this was that Aussies would have a server to play on with considerably less lag, and also so we can all play togeather at the same time, no time difference. So ice is correct, the server would have to be hosted in Australia.

And in regards to a smaller player base, i for one would not mind having only kanto or one of the other maps, all of them would obviously be too much unless it became popular.

I'd bet Tene would have fun going back on and off to both PvP servers, pixelmon, and the build server.

I like playing with people from all over the world so I think Tene's idea is best where we'll still be on the same server with everyone.

Um, no. Just no.

I get barely any lag though...

Contact your ISP, might be a problem with them.

I've seen some of you elite battle hosts, and I don't know how you reduce the lag with the location of the server, all those gadgets you have, and while recording. :P

Your computer must be very beefy :P

MBP 13in mid2010 model.

Most of those videos are laggy due to recording + minecraft, and I probably hadn't restarted my laptop in over a week. I've found it responds better after having been restarted.

Also a clean install of your OS and software might be a good idea. I'm planning on doing that when the next OSX is released.

I might just have to do some of those things to help my lagginess.
