I'm still confused.
Before MDBadges, we had Badges++. Before Badges++ we used physical items that were unobtainable.
they were items only obtainable through the creative inventory or /I and /give commands, so we, the admins, would stock a gym leader chest with these items and they would give them to anyone who beat them. Then we would physically collect these badges when they challenged the elite. The main reason we stepped away from this was new regions making ot harder to come up with unobtainablr blocks and silk touch enchant making some(like farmland) available
